What is Creative Counselling & Art Therapy?
Art Therapy is an expressive therapy combining visual art-making and psychological therapy in a creative process. Creative counselling uses a variety of psycho-dynamic tools such as EMDR, EFT, Mindfulness and Body Mind therapies to help people find their way through their problems.
What is a Creative Counselling session like?
- Sessions are as unique and varied as individuals themselves
- Creative Counselling recognises that you are unique. Sessions may involve any combination of art-making, body-mind therapies and talking.
- Rose has extensive training and experience in traditional cognitive therapies as well as newer dynamic brain/body approaches such as EMDR, EFT and Body-Mind Psychotherapy. Her background is in Adlerian Pyschology, a humanistic holistic positive approach to psycho-therapy, well-suited to finding creative solutions to problems within a person as well as difficulties between people.
But I can't draw...
You don't need special art skills to do art therapy! All of us are born creative, and adapt creatively to the challenges life gives us.
There are many ways to express yourself creatively, and different media and approaches can work for different people. Not all sessions involve using art materials. And some clients never use art at all.
Most people have critical internal voices that tell them that they are not good enough when it comes to creative self expression.
Art Therapy and Creative Counselling helps you gain freedom from these old judgements.
Therapeutic art-making helps you to understand your own unique visual language, no matter what age or stage of life you are at.
